Basic grammatical rules concerning Vint

July 24, 2007 5:39 pm

*rant warning*

They probably forgot to teach you this in high school, but take it as a truth anyhow:

Vint at her dancepoleWhen referring to Vint Falken, Second Life avatar, we use the feminine (weiblich, vrouwelijk, féminin, …) form of words.

Examples:

  • Vint Falken, she is…
  • Vint Falken, on her blog
  • Miss Falken…
  • Vint, you cunt, why…

Told you so only two days ago. Now I do wonder, if I would replace the giant header with a picture of my female avatar here on my blog *points up* by a picture of a male avatar, would people finally start to realise I’m female? ^^

Ow, and some precautionous writing before Laetizia is going all language puritain on me and toasts me for using the word ‘gender’ to tag - I know that words have a gender and I have a sex - in stead of ’sex’: well, I don’t want to invite even more spam bots over. Hence referring to ‘the act’ I also often use the term SLex. ;)

I personally think it would help us all if the blue jeans on Vint were removed from the banner…. I seem to recall that top banner being much more exciting in the past….

I really wonder what inspired the fourth example … did somebody actually call you a dick? ;)

… and since SHE (better Vint?) seems to have changed race definitively, what about a banner with ears and tail ???

The same goes for Laetizia. Yes, the creator and controller of Laetizia is a man, but Laetizia is not a man. If little Vint ever played with Barbie dolls, her Kent doll did not turn into a ’she’ either.

Ken allways has been a kind of “she”, Laetizia… :-)
.. a bit like a noob male who first time takes of his pants, and gets the surprise of his lifetime..

Timonthy, that never happened to you? :p

And Veronique, you’re correct. I think I’m more used to typing English then German. :d It’s corrected now, thank you. As for the banner with ears and tails, yes, that’s on the to do list. Together with a remake of the blog layout and such. I’m better at creating to do lists then emptying them though.

Dear Vint:
We are living in a sex, gender or whatever-you-want-to-call-it outing storm. I know you’re a girl, but, does it really matter? I mean you are free to be what you want to be, and everybody has to respect your option (or should do it).
Vint, you cunt, a big hug ;-P
