Featured favorites on Shop.OnRez: Pandora HUD missing

August 6, 2007 3:57 am

Featured Favorites on Shop.OnRezNeat, nah? Although it’s a pity at that moment (when I created my list) the Pandora HUD wasn’t available on SLBoutique Shop.OnRez yet. Together with the Pandora Poser it would have made Vint’s fav’s #1 and #2.

Disclaimer: London Spengler - creator of the Pandora HUD - did not pay me, sleep with me, beg me, blackmailed me, … in any way to do this blogpost. I just realy like the HUD and use it often. Especially the ’sit on floor’ and ‘play dead’ animations.

The Irony: Philip Linden’s Hairdon’t

June 27, 2007 7:38 am

Up to now, I blamed the photographers. Or the Second Life client. And the graphic cards. But after seeing him ‘in person avatar’ at SL4B I now realise: Philip Linden’s hair is butt ugly. Yes, I know, it is not prim hair. So it will never actually end up in his butt. But it’s still ugly as hell. So, as the Second Life community, let us all help Phil, shall we? Do you have free hair coupons? Send them to Philip! Do own have a prim hair shop? Do invite Phil over! If you do not have any of those, you can still just rezz him a plywood box to hide his head in…

Now, I gave it a shot to look at which new hairstyle would suit Philip Linden best. What do you think? (click it for a bigger version)

The Irony of our Second Life's: Philip Linden's Hairdon't

If you do not like my suggestion, or think you can do better, feel free to experiment with Philip Linden’s hairdon’t yourself. You can use any of these two pictures of Philip Linden below. For the make over, I myself used a free account at makeoversolutions.com, but there are tons of other sites and programs that let you experiment with hair and make up on a photograph.

What flag do you sunbathe in?

Aha, so the SL Bikini Project is not dead. Although I should have attended payed attention in high school geography class. Which country do I put this one under? Austria it is. ;)

flickr.com - sl bikini project entry

You can still download my PS bikini template and here are the instructions to go with it:

The SL Bikini Project is all about showing Seond Life’s diversity through or in bikini’s.

Together with this .txt file, you should find two .pds (photoshop) templates. Open them, paint on the ‘paint here’ layer (that’s the one that doesn’t say ‘white edges), activate the alpha layer channel (it’s already there in channels, just press the eye), save as a .tga file (32 to keep the alpha channel!) and upload both the upper en below texture into your Second Life.

In appearance, create a new undershirt, drag the bikinitop texture from your inventory opon the white square that says ‘texture’ beneath it, save it, and you just made a bikini top. Create a new underpants, drag the underpants texture bla bla bla…

Now snapshot yourself in those bikinis and show us what you made at http://bikiniproject.vintfalken.com

Photo Realistic Head Skins for the Masses

June 13, 2007 6:38 am

Metaversed’ 57 Miles reports on CyberExtruder launching an island that will get all the residents photo realistic first life like head skins. That is, if you supply a good photograph and 15 dollars. If you tag along on his guided tour tomorrow, you can even get free head a free head. Hmm, interesting, right?

My to do list:

  1. Take RL mug shot without distortion and harsh schading.
  2. Retouch RL head photograph in PS to my liking.
  3. Study SL body skin neckline.
  4. Retouch retouched RL head photograph by adding white and black spots to my RL skin carefully placing them so they match my SL skin´s neckline.
  5. Drag along on the trip.
  6. Get a Second Life head skin based on my retouched version of my retouched real life photograph.

Hmmm. Sounds a bit all to weird, no? I like the idea & technology, and I think for the RL to FL and reversed business peepz this might be handy, but for me? I like my b&w spots (rarely spotted in pink&white spots nowadays), my pale, collageen lips and faulty eye lashes.

Two One positive things about this according to Vint:

  1. You get .jpg file for the head mailed to you. This means you can add make up, a tan, freckles, scars, … to your liking and just upload all the different versions. So a change of make up will only cost you 10L$. If anybody has an original .jpg file, *coughs* Mr. Miles? *coughs* I’d be glad to give it a try and promis you won’t end up looking like a panda. This also means that if you are a bit intelligent, which I assume you are if you were able to get off help island, you’ll give the CyberExtruder people a photograph without make up. Believe me if I say adding it in PS is way more easy then removing it. Ok, so the ‘editing plan’ works: proof and some more proof.
  2. If this works well, the scoreboard on ‘options to make your avatar look just like your RL you for not to much money’: SL 1, Sony’s Home 0 (as far as we know). ;-) Nvm. Camron, why do you always spoil all fun? *sobs*

osMoz, adding a fifth sence to our metaverse

June 9, 2007 6:16 am

We could already see (normal or wireframe), hear (well, in beta), feel (right click, ‘touch’ & Xcite), taste (virtual thirst) and then there was Calvin Klein’s ‘IN2U’. Now, any self respecting avie can not were the same parfume year in year out, now can he? Second Life fashionistas will be happy to hear they can now pick the right fragnance to match their looks.

osmoz island by nephie eerieNot heard about osMoz, the Perfume Island yet? The company behind osMoz, Firmenich, has already designed a wide variety of fragnances including FlowerByKenzo, Acqua di Gio by Giorgio Armani and CK One by Calvin Klein.

As a part of our continuing quest for information and innovation, osMoz.com, Fermenich’s consumer research tool, is setting up an island in Second Life in order to reach a complementary target. The goal is to test new methodological approaches to consumer research, providing a place for consumers to share their passion for fragrance.

osmoz perfume island by nephie eerieAt the osMoz island one can find a quiz to determine the fitting fragnance for each avatar, a virtual perfume bar to pick up that fragnance (neat option, you can regulate the frangance’s intensity using the HUD), a beautiful, scented ingredients garden and a meeting place for perfume adepts.

osmoz parfume island by nephie eerieFor the little quiz, I ended up with the ‘Oriental’ fragnance family: ‘You are mysterious, mesmerizing, and exciting and like to play the seduction game. Your charm is intoxicating and you are well aware of your power. Proud and unpredictable by nature, you thrive on encounters and provacation. Your perfumes mirros your desires - heady and warm. You have a prediliction for the oriental family. You like the smell of vanilla, amber, insence and sandalwood and dare to wear fragnances with character. You invite people around you to understand you. They will need to be ready to travel far in the trail of your perfume.‘ Euhm. Yeah. Like. Whatever. Although they might have a point on the provocative part. =d

That and there seems to be an ‘osMoz’ last name pick possible for (certain?) avies now? They also have a photocontest wherein the best 5 snapshots of the island will receive a 5000L$ price. (Deadline: the 20th of the month, send to contact@osmoz.com.) The great shots in this post are by Nephie Eerie from Stella Errans.

Free Coke and Clothes

May 28, 2007 1:13 pm

I while ago Veyron, Wrath, Dalien and I went to the final Virtual Thirst party (Coke, contest, blablabla, … don’t tell me you didn’t hear about that one!) and it somewhere stated that you had to dress creative/appropriate. So.. euhm… well… Anyway, we had a good time, although I didn’t win the costume party. *sobs*

Freebie 'Coca-Cola' outfitWas my Coke costume not sexy enough? Because I won’t believe it wasn’t hilarious enough! ;) Could it be? Is Wrath right and was I not Miss Popular? Or was it me constantly sipping from the bottle of Evian that is to blame for my loss? Anyway, as I’m probably never ever going to wear that outfit again, you can fetch it for free from SLboutique or SLExchange, find it as a freebie at my shop at Mardes, at my skybox at Scheherazade or at Zhivago hospital or use the MetaMart hud!

It includes a Coca-Cola dress (jacket and skirt), a double layered prim skirt, a necklace made from Coke Light bottle caps, a Coke purse/hand bag and a plastic bottle of refreshing Evian drinking water. All items are copy and non-trans.

How to say ‘Ty’? (Part 2)

May 13, 2007 2:23 am

You tell your friend starting today she’ll come cheap. Like L$25-cheap. And then thank her again she doesn’t shoot you. Well, at least I do not do mean things like ‘glowing edges’ to people! =d

Tanktop Rejeanne 'Ad'

(If interested, L$25 is a great price fur such a beautiful avie on such a highly detaild top. ;) Feel free to drop by at Zhivago Clinic, my shop at België, SLboutique, SLexchange or to use the Metamart HUD to purchase it. :D)
