SLG07: Update on campaigners & Vint’s first public statement
June 7, 2007 12:23 pmEven with The Inside Scoop doing a great job on covering the 2007 SLelections for Governor of Second Life it’s still a tremendious job to keep track of all new candidacies. All of them they have interesting takes on what Second Life’s future should look like, so that’s one heck of a competetion I’ll be facing. Yes, you’ve heard that correctly. Vint Falken will represent the ‘Grid Democracy’ party and will run for Governor’s office too. I’ve favorited for 1500L$ worth of decent clothing on SLBoutique so you all shall take me serious, but until LL solves all the problems I can not purchase those. That will be changed when I am governor: whatever grid problems occure, shopping shall be made possible at all cost!
But we were talking about my competition here. First there’s the PATH’s cult leader Tiana Meriman who - just as me, if I may add - firmly believes in the powers of the Linden Gods. I suspect her to be an illigitimate child born out of an affair between Pathfinder Linden and a panthera. Let’s see if her half-god powers can help her in this race.
//we interrupt this report for a ‘Grid Democracy’ public anouncement
//end public services anouncement (If you don’t like them, feel free to use another blog to follow up on SLelections.)
Another avie running for the title of Governor is the gorgeous and well known flickerite Reddawn Bade or ‘Big Sis’. Residents of Second Life, please remember: Looks are not everything! Yeah… I know that she’s a natural blonde. But she also says she likes the viewer’s stability. Sure there must be something that can still be approved?
Campaigning with ears and tail? That must be Timonthy Lilliehook for CCWC (Cute Cats With Claws). Are that prim claws, Timmy? *purrs*
The rumor also goes that Evan Evans spend and hour at the PATH church, praying to the Linden Gods for inspiration on rewriting his SLelection platform into a decent position paper. Let us hope he did not sacrifice a prim baby to Daniel.
Now, let’s get down to business:
Vint’s first concern for the SLfuture: equality for all! Be it you receive weekly stipend or not. Be it that you reign or serve. Be it that you are hairy or shaved. Be it that you have a dark skin or a n00b skin. Be it that you wear 2658 prim hair or just a swimming tail. Be it that you reside at a hobohub or own a privat sim. We are descend from the same Ruth! We are made of the same wireframe! We travel the same pipes! We share our servers! We are all equal! We are equal!
No avie should do harm upon another one without concern. No avie should be denied a master when he or she begs to serve because of lack of Xcite. No avie should be restricted access from mature regions because he or she is a child! No avie should have to pay more for escort services because he has fur and not skin! We are equal! We! Are! Equal! Avie Rights for all!
PS. I will do something about ‘IM delivery capped’ too! But until I take office, please contact me using the comments, info aaaaaaat vintfalken *purrs* com or FlickrMail.
And because I love diversity, this time I’ll quote Wrath’s disclaimer: This is political satire, people. It’s not real. Save your Abuse Report trigger finger for something legitimate, like lagging casino scripts or talking pregnant baby bellies or boots attached to the ass after teleporting. Those are things that are offensive and real. Linden Labs® and Second Life® officially do not recognize this election. Unfortunately.
*goes to update the candidacies list*

And my question to Robin Linden:
There already exists a system of ‘group voting’. Why can that not be extended to asking the residents what they think about something before posting ‘the whole community agrees’ on your blog? You have all the means to keep a (non-binding) referendum amongst residents/premium residents/sim owners. If LL cares about his residents that much, then why aren’t those means used?
Submit your own at United Protest!
Update: Money balance still loading and so I can’t upload election poster textures. Aaargh! *insert lots of swearwords here*

SLelections: First news…
1:13 am
After finding the Concerned Resident’s letter on my teleportal doorstep I was reliefed to quickly find out I was not the only one finding that letter. It was not _just a dream_. Maybe Grid Democracy does stand a chance after all!
Veyron Supercharge found it in her Second Life inbox and thinks Tiessa should run for Governor. Although I’m not sure if that pays better then BDSM Mistress. As far as I konw of, Codie is still the only one that received a text in stead of textured letter through Gmail. She isn’t sure if she’s going to run, but I think she should! Also Myg & Alex found the concerned resident’s message and they’ve teamed up with Romana Wei, who did great in last year’s Little Philly elections. Myg, who is Wei’s campaign leader, even released their first statement on the Wei ‘08 campaign: ‘Because as we all know, if we’re going to keep Second Life Safe Together, then we’re going to have to go after the enemy, hard. There is no safety without war. And besides, we heard “free blow jobs for all” has been taken by another candidate.‘
By then Dolmere Talamasca did not only read the letter thoroughly, he also worked out a thought through platform to support his candidacy for SLG. He does reserve the rights to change the platform at any time. And look, it seems those concerned residents think the already famous Tateru should run for office as well. I’ve checked the ToS and Community Guidelines and neither state that a media mogul should not participate in SLelections. Well, they don’t say much about SLelections at all. No room for democracy in those?
When Veyron, Myg, Romana, Dalien and I were in the skybox discussing the letter a totally freaked out Wrath dropped by. He was so busy screaming communist slogans, we did not notice him bringing his machinima cam along. The first SLelection footage you can find on Wraht Paine’s blog and I trust there shall be more.
After that the letter also reached Erbo Evans who throws his hat in the ring and promises - amongst other - to to put and end to corruption in high places when he’s governor. Looking at him in a business suit, I’m so considering letting him have my vote.
But there are that many strong candidates to concider. Take the Inworld Rezzolutionary Party with Zoe Connoly as candidate for instance: Postponing indefinitely voice in Second Life. Wow! I want that.
In the mean time, my platform is still a blank. Wtf do I stand for?! And I already promised Collin Savon a post as Xcite Linden. *sobs* Meanwhile I’m going to look into some political campaigning tactics.
And to use Myg’s words:
This is satire. That means there is no “real” SL Election. But that doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be one…

Slelections? Wtf?!
June 6, 2007 5:37 pmOn my teleporter-doorstep:
Let me think of a fit slogan to run with… ‘Dancing cows are broadly offensive!’ ‘Do not censor my life, pretty please!’ ‘Keep your hands off my guns!’? … Arrgh! I just know I can do better then those! *starts thinking*
Anyway, more information at the SLelections page.
