What I had to do:
[In my inventory, one by one, click object (or texture), right click, ‘properties’, click ‘mod’, click ‘copy’, close properties.]x56. Which totals at 336 clicks. Auwch!
What I wanted to do:
In my inventory, click first object, alt+shift last object, right click selection, ‘properties’, click ‘mod’, click ‘copy’, close properties. Which would total at 7 clicks.
Why can’t I? What did I miss? Or is there really no way around doing a lot of clicking, in Second Life?
PS. I did find out that it takes waaaay long to edit objects if they are inside another object. Change modify. Waaaaaiiit. Change copy. Waaaaaaiiittt. Open properties for next one. So inventory was the smartest move. But still… there must be another way?

Believe me, if you select ‘em all and then Properties, you’ll even end up with more clicks. It opens ‘em all in one window each in a tab! DOUBLE WHAMMY OUCH!.
I had the same problem just the other week. 122 items in a vendor needed permissions changed followed by 60 in another vendor. I don’t even want to think about how many clicks that was!!!!
Scripting is the only solution, but I’ve no clue where to start.
Something for Dalien ?
I can already think of the Product Name (héhé) : SLIM
(Second Life Inventory Manager)
If I write the specs, will somebody code it ?
*starts working on looking very cute to talk to Dalien*
*where did I put that babydoll in the eventory again*
I would assume you’d use an object, script that and put all the objects you want changed in it? Like ‘all mod’, ‘non mod’, ‘all trans’, ‘non trans’, ‘all copy, ‘no copy’, set price, etc.
But then again, if it were possible, somebody would have done so already?
I would LOVE someone’d do it… But, setting perms is only in God Mode :-/.

The only possibility to do it I think would be using libsecondlife. But then it will be a bit more than 300 clicks :-)
When i am poking the next time with libsecondlife, i will keep this in mind..
Grab a noob and offer some lindens to do that for you ;)
@Vint: LSL scripting? Almost impossible (slow, missing functions, no suitable UI)
@Dalien: You’re my guy ! I knew you already had the solution in your back pocket. Indeed, the only solution is to code an ‘opensource’ extension to the viewer. Personally, I already had a UI in mind coded natively in the viewer (no scripting unless we wait until mono shows up). I’m convinced this had the best changes for stability, speed and user-friendliness. I could even be adopted by the Lindens and built into the standard viewer or am I dreaming again ?
OMG, I don’t want to be adopted by the Lindens. I meant ‘It could be adopted by the Lindens’, haha
Vint, can you moderate the post and correct it ?
/me promises to reread her comment before hitting the submit button
Ow. But this sounds so cutish. And people that read your next comment know what you mean? *grins* Must I really change it? =)))
@Vint: noooo! :) Such a cute typo, I think it :-)))
@Bella: well, the solution is by far not in the pocket… It’s somewhere in the sky - this would need to be written, but i do not know when exactly - would need more research to see how to do it in the first place… :)
“…and built into the standard viewer..”
mmm… does that mean a permanent Bella-shaped HUD?..
or the possibility to copy/past Bellas looks on every ugly noob appearing in front of my eyes..
oh sweet vanity…
:-p
Veronique, stop teasing Bella! You make me feel bad about not changing the comment.
she is not ugly.. I consider it a valuable improvement…
