Embracing da Wrath, Second Life style
January 2, 2008 11:01 pm
Although Mister Paine extended his personal deadline for the hugging meme, I did not want to take any chances: locating him on the map, I teleported to go and say ‘hi’ and to give Wrath a huge hug.
That was, after some fiddling with the animations: the Pandora HUD did not obey us very well, Wrath’s own hugging tool was extremely boring and the neat one I had in mind - which includes such great hugs as there are ‘kick in groin’ and ‘throw away’ is owned by Dalien and I can’t remember it’s name.
But for this hug, the Rendez-Vous animator gave us just the moves we needed. Aign’t we cute? :d
Of course, one can not just hug and leave. Other things done during quality time with Wrath:
- ‘You show me yours and I’ll show you mine.’ Subject: Rezzday outfits gotten from Veyron. What were you all thinking? Anyway, just one word left to say on this: Olé! *failed attempt at holding back laughter*
- Go shop for or cute evil Japanese pussy or black ops machine gun or cute bunny backpack. It was a though choise. Whilst doing so, we brushed up on our Japanese. ;)
- Admire Wrath’s winter garden. A tad kitschy, but *purrrrrr*fect.
- Ride the giraffe and horse. The yak seemed a bit dangerous and mean and gave me the ‘evil eye’, so I did not dare.
- Shop for outfit using Veyron’s Christmas gift to Vint. I’m still doubting.
- Put out Wrath who was on fire and because of that, debated on wishes vs the money. No blowing was no wish. :(
The conclusion? Damned, how could I ever have not met up with Mr. Paine Principle for that long!? Dear, precious, fun and hansom Wrath, can we schedule meeting on the first of every month? ;)
PS. Hereby I, Vint Falken, declare to owe Wrath one nice male outfit. Wrath Paine, from his parts, needs to agree to actually were that one in public.

*pouts because the Pandora didn’t behave, but will recover her pride soon anyway, so nobody has to worry :-p*
I think the thingie whose name you didn’t remember is the “Abranimations Couples Animator”; it has a lot of funny hugs and interactions. Anyway, my congratulations about becoming a hugging addict; we need more like you :-)
Yeah, dear Miss Spengler, I love the HUD for personal animation, and for groups, but for ‘one on one’ action, it misbehaves. It does not put the avatars in the correct position, and as you know, positioning your avatar correctly is a real pain in SL. Most of the time, before I’m really hugging someone without sticking my arm through his or her throat the animation is finished. But as I said, for facial animations, playing dead, sitting down, … I just love it! ;)
*giggles at the Miss prefix* I wasn’t defending my hud, but scolding it, since you are pretty right.
Well, the positioning is very easy, a face to face bump and then playing the animation (ok, maybe a tad of turning after it that needs some practice)… but there is no easy way to adjust heights but the reverse button, and that makes that there is a lot of dissapointing organic phasing…
I have a Rendezvous and, even if I didn’t had the time to explore it in deep (and the patience, since I hate to have to remove my AO), I love the idea of hand to hand walking, or paired flying. Also, the hugs will be usually better paired, since the positioning is poseball like, through the waists.
For me the Pandora is mainly a tool for the social huggers or the romantically involved, to be able to simply hug without asking (but of course I like you like the self animations), I made it for that, and grow complex with time. In fact, I use almost exclusively the three hugs I have on the shortcuts.
The Rendezvous is also a romantic tool, to be used when you want to move around; less spontaneus, but more intimate. Once you climb on it, you are set for a wonderfull ride.
But it is a pity there isn’t a more precise way, and up to where I know, the new engine isn’t bringing it too. I am designing a new kind of bed, since I don’t like the system of the standard SL ones, and scripting it to be even a decent one is going to be a nightmare… so many limbs going through wrong parts, even with avatar size detection.
Sigh… I am writing a lot and not going anywhere. You cannot imagine how depressed makes me, and probably most of romantically involved people at SL, not being able to find a good starting pose for a particular situation; because it is the mood you are setting, and what happens later doesn’t matters so much… but just at the start, is so annoying, so frustrating.
Developing social traits should be a must in a virtual world like SL, but I imagine that nice skyes are cheaper (anyway, I want bug fixes first… yayyyy to the inventory recoverals!).
