Facts about me and gossip about the human
December 2, 2007 11:54 pmGuess what? I was one of the eight SL bloggers tagged by Timothy Lilliehook to give out 8 random more or less interesting facts. Now, I’m just a Second Life avatar. I am an average one. I’m not making ‘the bug bucks’, neither am I a hot shot escort or a great builder & scripter. So I was not sure if I could find 8 random more or less interesting facts about little old - more than one year now! - Second Life me. At least not 8 really worth writing about. So I’ll give you 4 about the human for free. Not sure if she looks at it the same way as I do, though. Well, I don’t think it’s a bad thing for her, to look at her Humanish Highness through my virtual eyes once in a while.
4 random facts about Vint
My inventory is a mess. Really. I’ve lost two pairs of shoe’s, just because I can’t remember their names. If someone promises to send me something, I beg to send it by mail, just because I’m sure that I will loose it when it goes into my invent.
I’ve never slept with a girl-avie. Somewhere - after kissing the breasts, to be more precise - it became icky. Although, I did promise my Princess, that if I would ever feel the urge, she would be the first.
I only learned how to decently land after I was 6 months old. Before that I just ’stopped flying’ which lead to horrible landings. Only after I discovered to press ‘page down’, I’ve learned to land more or less smooth & elegant.
I have 191 persons in my Second Life friend list. (Should clean.)
4 random facts gossip stories about my human
The human, she’s going to move soon: she signed a contract and will be allowed to move her basket into the new place starting Januari 1st. We agree that the place will need cable access, but are still debating on the amount of montly bandwith she’s willing to give me. She says I will have to settle with 12GB upstream & downstream, I demand at least 35GB. Ow, and in the mean time she has a car that’s total loss. And then she says I can’t park!
She is negelecting me lately, saying she needs sleep. I did some counting, the Humanish Highness totals at more or less 42.5 hours sleep a week - 6.07 hours of ZzZ-ing / night on average - of which 20 hours during weekends. My owner is a real sissy, I say.
Saying glass is more important than a decent body, my human’s ranting lately. Making sounds that normally only come with total sexual satisfaction even, when she spends to much time on a certain webpage. The owner would settle with EF-S. Geeh, don’t you have any moral or standards to uphold, babe?
She is constantly claiming I’m a drama queen. Well, she should first look at human self! She has worn real fur when starring as queen Titania in A Midsummer Night’s dream. At least my fur is pixelated and can be photo sourced from live life animals! And let us not even mention the affair she had with Puck!
Ow, and as it has been to long since we’ve last seen a not a meme, I’m not tagging anyone. Feel free to tag yourself! And let me know if you did!

Thanks for your answer, I enjoyed reading it a lot. And I’ll have to add the fact about the messed up inventory to my list as well ;-)
BTW, I have played Oberon in the “Midsummer Night’s Dream” a couple of years ago!
Ok, since you aren’t going to tag anyone, I’ll tag you twice. That way, we don’t have to work so hard.
:P
Mmmm…. I dunno about the 10-22… I prefer my 17-40L more. The 10-22 is kinda spendy as I recall. Veyron’s owner really does enjoy fondling her 135 f/2L though… :)
Vint needs to learn how to wardrive better for bandwidth. :)
Timothy, not for thy fairy kingdom! ;)
Ow, Shoshana, that was not actually what I had in mind. 4 more gossip stories about the human is easy, but 4 more interesting facts about me… aargh!
Veyron, she realises it’s kinda spendy. As for the 17-40, we’ve never played with that one. We did play with the 10-22 on a 40D this noon and, I never seen a cup of hot chocolate that sharp and crispy with that much background! =) She hardly ever uses her 200mm anyway, and her friend is stocking up on good Nikon Macro/Tele glass, so why should she? (Only, the lenses are not exchangable, but they can be ‘traded in’ for a few hours/days if needed.)
There are some cheaper alternatives than Canon for the 10-22, but she needs an EF-S, else she can kiss her wide angle goodbye (x1.6 pffff!).
Wardrive: Doesn’t one need a car for that, hun? (and where it’s parked now, waiting to be taken apart for whatever parts still function - not many I assume - there is no WIFI. :d)
Mmmm, I have an EF-S camera too, but 17-40 is almost as good. I use a 15mm f/2.8 Sigma fisheye for wide angle shots and de-fish it in software. I like the speed of the lens and it is a prime. RL BF likes to wave his faster 16-35L at me just to taunt me at times, but then I just stick my tongue out at him.
The 135 f/2L is devastatingly sharp - even wide open. It and the 17-40 f/4L have that really sexy red ring on them that lets everyone know they should just get out of your way because you have a REAL camera with a REAL lens. Not some cheap point and shoot camera that requires chimping (as the BF calls looking at the electronic rear view screen) to use.
I’d avoid zooms down at wide focal lengths and use primes.
You can always use a direction antenna and aim it at your neighbors…. :)
LMAO. We were joking about that ealier. ‘Katia, why are the ones with the red rings that expensive?’ ‘Red rings have very high manufacturing costs!’ And we also figured out the white ones should come with colourisation options, seeing the price! ;)
But really, you think the EF-S is pricy? Not compared to the 16-35 your bf is holding. =d As for the primes, I know, but I didn’t get over the limiting feeling they give me. I want a good 50mm as basic lens one day, though.
The chimping I never do. Except at concerts, whith quickly changing light circumstances to see if I fired at the correct moment. And maybe on an other few occasions. :D
Well, the 10-22 EF-S in US$ street price is $750. The 17-40 is as little as $620. I got mine for about $520 new on sale. Hmmm, an EF-S lens or an L lens for less - which would you choose?
Yeah, I know about the 16-35. He also has the 24-70 f/2.8L, 70-200 F/2.8L, 35 f/1.4L, 85 f/1.2L, Sigma 120-300 F/2.8 and the bastard has a ID Mk III now. I have to hear about it all the time…. I just smack him and make him give me one his lenses on demand. :)
[…] seeing how others (multi-link — click each letter for a different post I found!) are writing these […]
Ah well. At least he does not have the 1Ds. Really, I think shooting film for all of your lifetime, and developing 100/day would not even cost you _that_ much money. It sells 7k euro’s for the body here. Double the megapixels, double the price. We do have 1 at work though… *wonders if companies having about 10 of them in stock take a seperate insurance for them and sighs*
17-40 EF would become a 28 - 65 on my rebel or on anything up to a 40D. I don’t see the use of that, as I already have a 28mm and up zoom.
PS. Mind if I come live with you and the bf? You may keep the bf busy why I play with his gear! ;)
Hehehehe.
Excuse me for giggling loudly about the “icky” bit.
lmao
At work I use a Olympus Evolt E-410 I use… Sadly I haven’t talked them into any really fun lenses…
At home I use my Fujifilm S5700 which is almost (but not) an DSLR… It uses a fixed non-exchangable 10x zoom lense… It’s alot closer to an SLR than most peoples point & shoots though with all sorts of fun options…
Aha, I’ve never felt tempted to try those. Do you know why there lenses - or some of them - are called ‘Zuiko?
I used to have - still own, but lended it out - the Fujifilm 602s. Indeed, nice cameras and at that time - more than 4 years ago - the nearest affordable thing to DSLR. I loved it’s wide angle capacities, which were much better than on most consumer compacts. Lens quality was good. They say there are often problems with those camera’s, but I never had none. It’s still being used and it lives for over 5 years now, without ANY problems.
