Free full perm female skin textures
December 28, 2007 10:50 pmFrom the Amondeu Artisans Guild group notices, which I love:
Free Female Skins with Full Perms
Fri Dec 28 12:02:50 2007
Artisans these skins are provided as separate textures and can be used to gain knowledge AND to help the new. Double threat :) If you have an interest in skin making or know any broke avies, don’t miss these designs by the great and generous maker Eloh Eliot. Deck the halls with good looking avatars!
Landmark to Another Shop at Libbert was included, needless to say, this whole post is about charing these coordinates with you. Free skins to be found at : Another shop, Lippert (73, 185, 179)
These 12 free skin textures (each skin exists out of a head texture, a lower body texture and an upper body texture) are full perm, which means you can export them back to RL to play with them - and learn from that - in Photoshop. The way to do this:
- In Second Life, find the texture you want to copy to your hard drive and open the skin texture so that it shows on your screen.
- Make sure it’s selected: it should be in front and the frame is dark grey, not transparent.
- Go to the File menu and choose ’save texture as’.
- … the rest of the process should be familiar. ;)
These kind of notices - always interesting, always surprising, never expensive - is why this is a group I’d _never_ voluntarily leave. Hail to the leader Kilnara Balnarring! ;)
Update:
This just gets better & better. Eloh Eliot has made the original .psd files of the skin textures available:
- Fe skin texture - pds file
- Le skin texture - pds file
- Re skin texture - pds file
- Se skin texture - pds file
- Lfº skin texture - psd file
- Cfº skin texture - psd file

- Ffº skin texture - psd file
- new! Cf1 male skin texture - psd file
- new! Rfº female skin texture - psd file

- upcoming: Pleiades
Keep in mind that Eloh Eliot asks that the ‘derivatives’ of these files, are freely shared too! More information on the BSD license and what restrictions Miss Eliot kindly asks for can be found here.

Vint hon, I promised them to Smiley so he can spread them in teen grid, but will not be able to export and send them before 5th… can you, please do it? *kiss*
Hurrah! They look pretty awesome too, really great for the newbies here :-). I don’t have any land currently, as I don’t access Second Life regularly anymore due to networking issues, but i’ll have my (too-)Israeli friend publish ‘em on his land, along with the DuoGrid logo.* You should try and talk to Linden about placing those in OIs, they’re really out-of-the-ordinary, and they’re full-perm! Though people (mostly newbies) will try and sell these…
P.S.: I’ll get right on to publishing the information page online at DuoGrid.com , and i’ll email the creator to send me the textures — I think web publishing is OK too, right? DIYs are recommended to be used instead of going to a scripted box inworld, as perms are on your side :-).
* That’s the meaning of it — though I should look into talking with Linden about how it would continue after I turn 18. It should go off without a hitch, as there’s the site, and I plan to work as a Liaison from Israel from the day I turn 18 ’till the time I have to go serve in the army. Wow, this was a long footnote!

High Quality + Open Source = Better Second Life
Thank you!
Why do the skins have security lines if their suppose to be full permission?
Because now you have to do at least _some_ effort, if you want to have quick gain from somebody else’s work? :D
These are a fantastic gift to the community and unlike most PSDs I’ve come across, the layer names actually mean something.
Unbelievably good!
@Fallon: Those ’security lines’ are guides Eloh Eliot used to line up the seams. Just turn the visibility off if they bother you.

Fallon, just go to the VIEW menu and uncheck the EXTRAS option.
Working with PSP 7 I am running into a peculiar problem - the upper and lower body images work perfectly - but none of the face images will open in psp 7 - anyone got an explanation (all I know is that I know nothing)
I once had this problem with skin files for Morrowind, 7 out of 8 opened fine, but the last had a layer blending effect that was unsupported by PSP, once that was set to something safe like ’soft light’ or ‘overlay’ it opened up fine in PSP.
I assume this is something similar.
*mumbles about fancy pants adobe blending effects*
I think I need to second Regan here. PSD after all is photoshop’s proprietary format. Did you try with GIMP already?
What’s used (blending modes):
Lighten, Pass Through, Color, … and of course an alpha channel too.
Hi again :)
Thanks for your responses - and yes probably the problem is format - although the upper and lower body images opened just fine - I suppose the facial images must have some extra feature that the other two don’t.
I downloaded GIMP and the tools needed to run it in a windows environment - but am still a bit away from making it work - oh well - live and learn.
If anyone feel compelled to either make the images available in Paint shop pro format - or create a version of the facial psd-images without the extra feature (what ever it is) and make those available I would very much appreciate it :)

Hi guys i have a problem, the eyelashes look white, and to see it the way it supossed to look i need to rebake textures every 5 seconds, can someone help me to get this fixed
Hi - me again - still no luck with opening those face textures in PSP
Being the PSP fan that I am I updated to PSP XI - but the problem persists - so there’s “something photoshoppy” in the face textures that’s incompatible with PSP even in the late releases
Downloaded a photoshop trial and worked with them there - and managed to make a skin I’m super happy withwich - now of course I would love to do more - but trials run out *pouts*
I guess I’ll just have to wait till the next Photoshop release and a new trial :-)
@neo4k9 : i had the same problem too when i saved the file in jpg and upload .. anyway it was solved when i saved it in targa- format ..
Aha, of course, as a jpg can’t do alpha channels and the eyelashes need alpha channels (know what is transparent) to work! Save as .tga 32bit as 24bit can’t do transparency either, and make sure to check saving the alpha channel too!
is there an y male skin texture like this 1 for free ?
Lfºy skin texture - psd file is a male skin. ;)
Vint - first I will say “You Rock!” Thank you for providing us with this invaluable gift. I have run into a bit of a glitch and I am hoping that, in your infinite wisdom, you can assist :-)
I have Photoshop Elements 6.0 and have saved a couple of the Eliot skins as 32 bit .tga format after reading the post about “white eyelashes” (Thank you again btw). The only glitch I run into is that the eyebrows don’t show up on the face texture in SL. When I save it and re-open it in PS they are there. When I upload to SL … they’re gone. Please help :-)
~DD
DD, the eyebrow layers are set to default no-show so you have to click ‘em to show, before you make your Targa file.
Thank you Lorelei but, unfortunately I have tried that and it still does not work. I decided to tinker around with the “approved” upload file types per SL and discovered the answer for any of you that may find the same problem:
Save File As a .bmp –> Click “Save” –> select 32-Bit –> press the “Advanced Modes” button –> select the 32-Bit option “A8 R8 G8 B8″ –> then click “Ok” (then upload to SL and voila!)
It works! No missing skin above the eyes! If you have Adobe Elements this will work. As for the full version of PS … I wouldn’t know.
~ DD
thank you for the skin …
I apologize but, unfortunately I ran into another problem using the above solution. The skin above the eyebrows shows up on the avatar but, the eyelashes are “white” again like the .jpg — I am going to continue trying new things to see if they work. If anyone has a solution please post so that I can enjoy these wonderful skins :-)
~ DD
DD -
I had this problem as well with the white eye lashes and the missing eyebrows. I found that it was the Alpha Channel. If you don’t say your file with the Alpha Channel selected in a format that allows transparency your eye lashes with will show up white, but if you do save the transparency then your eyebrows are invisible. Did not matter if I had eyebrows selected or not in the layers. I had to go in to the Alpha Channel and remove the area where the eyebrow transparency was so the only thing left transparent was the upper right corner (which is where the eyelash texture is mapped) After saving again with the Alpha Channel selected as a 32bit .TGA I had eyebrows finally and normal looking eyelashes.
How that helps.
Michelle ~ Thank you so much :-)
I experimented and found ‘another’ way for the faces to show up normal in SL as well :-) If you save the skins as a .png file that is “interlaced” then your problems are solved. And it sounds like a lot less work than messing with the Alpha channels :-) Thank you for your generosity Michelle and Vint :-)
Happy SL to you all ~ DD

Hello I love the skins very much..However i like working with the darker shades . Are there any updates besides the Se series that i might be able to use?
Fe looks like a dark series? You can also use different layers styles (multiply, overlay, … ) on the ‘base layers’? (don’t put them to full force to, keep them under 50%)
Hi all, i may seem stupid, but i cant seem to get rid of the blue lines at the face template, can anyone help me with that?
Luna, question previously answered by Regan in the comments above: @Fallon: Those ’security lines’ are guides Eloh Eliot used to line up the seams. Just turn the visibility off if they bother you
;)
@Vint: Thanks for your reaction. I figured that much out, lol, the problem was, how?? But nvm, i found it out, there was a post about it all the way up that i did not see….. for all that also did not see it: go to the view menu, there uncheck the extras option.
Another option: press ctrl+; or go View > Show > Guides
Anyone figure out how to format these textures so that the appearance sliders work? ie so that you can make the skins lighter or darker and so on?
Guys how do you change eyebrow color? P.S. THE TEXTURES ARE GREAT!!!
OMG!!So usefull!i always searched for templates that i can modify and add some make up i love it!!Eloh eliot and vint are soooo great!
Thank you so much! The base skin saved me so much effort when I was making the skin of Shim Changmin for my Changmin Shim avatar.

Hi :) First of all these are AMAZING! I did ran into the “white lashes” problem my self tho, I tried all of the above, but if I save it as TGA or PNG the whole file look half transperant once uploaded inworld, and it looks aweful, even if I try to play with the pigment slider it doesn’t look half as good as the jpeg, what can I do? Any one? I work on PS CS3.
Thank you :)
why aren’t we able to upload the skin textures on secondlife to give to the newbies ? Im having trouble doing that, can you please tell me why it doesn’t work.
Me again, I found out what my problem was, it had nothing to do with the files or PS, It was my Emeraled viewer that for some resone messes Alpha’s up.
So if any of you have similar problem using alternative viewers, just upload them at the official viewer :)
Thanks all again.
Kimora, most likely because you need to convert them from .psd to .tga first? ;)
I downloaded these skins from http://www.mediafire.com/?81tleamwnet But when I try to open them with photoshop or even gimp.. it sais it is not a valid photoshop document. Ive had this problem before when I tried to use Elohs skins… and I have seen posts on other blogs though I dont know where offhand of others having the same trouble.. thought I would try again and I still cant open it.
