Indeed rather scary. I wonder how long it will take before they think they have jurisdiction about me because probably one of my far far far ancestor’s nephews went to the Americas and founded their - censured - nation. I was already shocked back then when they said they would not accept jurisdiction of the court in Den Haag when it would rule about an American citizen.

While I am not in any way Anti-american ( putting in my Green card Lottery Every year! ) I think their DOJ has gone to far.

The Times 28/4/07 has an article that the DOJ now consider they have jusrisdiction on people anywhere in the world who:-

Works for a US company
A company that has issued shares in the US or is on the US Stockmarket
Or it part of a Cartel to do business in the US

Scary

I’ll put another 2 cents and agree with Codi that the sooner the grid is decentalized the better. A European grid would be nice.

I share most of the same preoccupations Vint is doing sarcasm about the Lindens becoming their own governement and especially since there under US law influence, which to my own sense is becoming more like a giant fascist plutocracy nowdays.

This is why I’m very verbal about decentralizing the assets and communication servers into other countries, and also allowing private owners to build and run their own sims independantly. This way at least all the contents will not be stored in datacenters hosted in a country where its quasi-marshall law. Maby people will be able to run sims from Sealand or from Christmas Islands XD

Well, the Senate majority here is now Democrat, so there is definitely hope for the future. And I can pretty much guarantee you that a Republican will NOT become president in the next election!

But yeah, I totally agree with you. We may have to abide by US & International laws, but not American “values”. Or at least the loudest voices in America anyway. Unfortunately in many places of the US, normal values include such great things as homophobia, racism, sexism, animal abuse and other lovely things. =P

We’re not all like that, though. Trust me!
