... but the other was extremely uncomfortable in their new skin (and I’m NOT revealing who it was).

Oh! Now I'm curious. That's not fair! =d (Really, I am curious. My guess would be that the one who moved from being female to being male was uncomfortable.)

I wish people would not view this gender issue as a yes/no, right/wrong, either/or situation. Clearly it is important to SOME people who is behind the avatar. To other people it is not. To a third set, it is a political / personal freedom issue and shouldn't be important, whatever they personally feel.

A friend and I tried the experiment of trading roles. I created a female avatar and she made a male one. Then we went out dancing. One of us found no difference in the experience, but the other was extremely uncomfortable in their new skin (and I'm NOT revealing who it was). This argument is as much about feelings as it is about the intellect.

My personal experience is that over the course of several months, you get to know the people you go out with. If that doesn't satisfy you that the other person is being open enough with you, then you should quietly end the relationship rather than prying into the other person's affairs. Just my $0.02.

The gender of the person behind the avatar, I can never know for sure. I do find it somehow interesting, but in the end who cares. (as I am bisexual anyway) ;-)

But I do know when they are (fe)male chauvinist sexist pigs! :-P

Interesting blog by the way Vint, I just discovered it and put it straight on my blogrol!

::Giggles, shaking her head.:: Wow. Such a funny way to respond. Such a funny thing indeed.. Same answer every day is a guy.. Pft.

Yaknow.. I'm not sure what the obsession is with caring whether the human is a male or female is. I couldn't care less.. Whatever someone represents themselves, in SL.. is obviously what they wish people to think them as. It makes most sense to just respect the person, instead of constantly guessing and wondering. The doubt eats at relationships.. so why have the doubt? ^^;

I've found out quite a few times that a (sl) female I care about very much, Love very much, is a (rl) male. It made no difference, even though my prefrence, RL or SL, is pretty much 99.9% female. I still Love the person just as much.

Who knows.. Maybe I'm just odd that way. ^^;; ::Shrugs, and waves.::

I think that this is one of the funniest exchanges I've read for a long time. Giggles quietly, crescendo, suddenly great belly laugh. And I've got a GREAT belly right now. And come to think of it I feel like shit this morning.
Well, back to the sandbox. (Thinks....Must change my clothes first.)
Viva Vint!!

*nods at Vint* Really, why guessing somebody's RL genitals? In 90% of cases you just cannot be sure. You puts yourself in the pits of suspiction and you are ruining your experience of yur second life, second life in the whole and your experience of that avatar. For what?
