I find lots of member of the SL community really interesting but don’t socialise a lot in world (perhaps partly because I’m the other side of the world, perhaps because there are so many interesting things to see and do that I’m off elsewhere). For this reason, I use social networks in general to keep up with what is going on in world and in related spaces - which it’s very useful for doing.

I’m not a big one for spilling my inner most life to the world but will answer questions and share commentary in context which might be why I say more in other people’s threads. Mostly I just ‘play’ on plurk while keeping up with what’s happening in the world of second life and beyond. On twitter I post the odd erratic comment. Flickr I post happy snaps, facebook I’m in because I wanted to join an SL related group but not under my RL me account.

I like plurk for it’s friendliness and it’s a nice friendly place to lurk if you want to find out what’s going on in world.

Blah Blah.

What I do blog about, comes right out of the mind of my heart, and I don’t feel the need, or don’t have the time sometimes, to speak out.
My opinions and views on the uni/metaverse only gradually find their way out, that’s just me.

I never started to Plurk, but my Twitter is a bit… well it’s like with my 1st blog : it’s very close to getting into a vegetate state ;)
It’s a nice socializer, but at work I always need to go onto my collegues computer fot internet (I’m on hers as I type this) and since that isn’t always possible, I sorta don’t feel the need to put a lot of elbowgrease into Twiiter anymore, or similar sites.
And once I get home, I prefer to go on SL instead of being on social networking sites.

So, I’ll keep my Twitter account to let people know when I’ve uploaded a picture somewhere, or when I posted a new blog topic, but that’s about it.
For actual socializing I still prefer to be on SL or use Skype and GoogleTalk.

As for my plurktimeline to go to private & friends only, yes that might have been a solution, if pursued correctly from the start (and how could I know!) Although, that would have meant I had to reject and/or boot out some persons to/from the friendlist, which would have resulted in the same drama I’m trying to avoid. (And which I fear I did not succeed at avoiding, regardless.)

In the mean while, I have good news for you! (to make up for the case you should miss me over there) … Veyron, you better hold on to something! I wore one of my Calico Hair Styles you pressured me into buying! (and not that one great alternative style ;)) =D

It is fun, and it is inane….

For me, Plurk is a bit of fun, a place to be silly..where I can do the equivilent of pulling silly faces at Kitty Lalonde, or Willow Zander.

I have about 60 people who i have as friends, and i think that is enough, but there are about 20 who I would say am friendly with. Vint being one.

But where you have people , you have drama. *sigh*.

Many plurkers have blogs I’ve followed for a long time but rarely comment on because I don’t have anything significant to contribute to their posts. However wtih plurk, because it was less formal and more spontaneous, I felt more at ease commenting.

Your decision does make sense though and I respect you for it. Of course I’ll just have to starting commenting on your blog now ;)
