[...] Vint Falken posts a bit of a grinner with a “memo” that she (and I repeat, she, not he) put together in Photoshop. (Make sure you check Vint’s earlier piece for a 51-blog list of early comments.) [...]

Too much speculation regarding the relative value and potential devaluation of any currency might prove costly. *wink*

You'll also have lost revenue from reduced LindeX volume, and reduced sinks.

Additionally, the entire economy might explode. Seriously. They can only sell lindens on LindeX, not buy them. That means if a period of rapid deflationary pressure hits due to a sudden population decrease, it's entirely possible the L$ could devalue to nothing.

I think if you look at the financial issue you have to look further than just the tier lost. This is a move that completely disenfranchised many landowners, who you can pretty much see as their most loyal customers ... after all, who spends 75 US $ a month on what is in all reality a 3D chatroom?

I wonder how many of these people will stop spending any money at all on Second Life - ending premium accounts, not buying Lindens anymore, and so on.

I am not going to make any predictions, since SL has gone through similar hits in the past with no real dent in its economy ... but still I wonder if it will have a noticeable effect.
