MyBlogLog and Recent Comments

April 16, 2007 9:55 am

The 5 most recent comments are now visible in the sidebar on the right. I think I want them justified but am to lazy to try and attempt changing css properties. Hmmm. Well, whatever.

Comments now come with avie-pictures. Gravatars? No thank you! The plugin MBLA uses your MyBlogLog profile picture to put next to the comment. That is, if you have a profile at MyBlogLog. So to avoid looking like an avie with midnight view on on a bad-rez-day you have to hop over to MyBlogLog and sign up. And that way I can check if it’s actually working, because at the moment my picture is the only one showing. :D

Other things that come with the free version of MyBlogLog: recent readers, limited analytics (top-10 referrers, content and outgoing clicks), site communities, …

As always, yes. Although the blond really fitted you well too.

Just trying this thing out, so there will be at least one male avatar with picture.

Strange. I see you on mybloglog, but not here. Did you use the same email adress for the comments here as you used to register to mybloglog?

I have been told that it should work when I am logged in at mybloglog. So…..

Hmmm. Still doesn’t work. Who told you that? ;)

Robyn Tippins, Community Manager of Mybloglog, is so kind to try and help me out on this, but apparently with no luck. I am still in contact, so there should be a solution real soon.
I am logged in on Mybloglog now, my browser is allowing sites to set cookies, so according Robyn it should work.

Hmmm. I can’t see how this got anything to do with setting cookies. The cookies part is for their ‘recent readers’ widget, and you show up in that one. The picture this plugin would need to fetch is located ‘http://pub.mybloglog.com/coiserv.php?href=http://www.flickr.com/photos/7386233@N08/&n=Looker%20Lumet’ but I think (*stresses ‘I think’*) it’s having trouble with the @ sign in the code. (So the fault lies with this blog/the plugin). Dunno how to solve that though. :( So could you please change your flickr address to flickr.com/photos/lookerlumet or flick.com/people/lookerlumet, change that at mybloglog.com and use that address to post comments to this blog and all _should_ be resolved. I think. You can change that in your account page on flickr under ‘personal information’. Do mind: you can only change this once. So whatever you choose, you won’t be able to change that later on.

Ok Vint, another attempt. I have changed my flickr address (should have done that ages ago,;)), updated that at mybloglog.
I have noticed that the name is linked, so we are making progress though.;)

That’s because I linked the name during my tests. I can change your comments, you see.

Still not working and no progress, thus. :(

I changed the link to the new photos/lookerlumet/ et voila… fixed! Ok, when commenting, you need to leave behind ‘http://www.flickr.com/photos/lookerlumet/’ as your URL. Nice to see you! ;)
