Nebulosus Severine & Arahan Claveau’s ‘Orientation’ SL machinima
September 17, 2008 9:00 amThought of and directed by Arahan Claveau & Nebulosus Severine ‘Orientation’ is a short, funny machinima featuring rabbits that bare a huge resemblance to George Orwell’s ‘1984′ characters going through an orientation process to end up in a factory which is a combination between a ‘this is how the body works’ instruction video & a Soylent Green like setting. Strangely enough - Arahan (or Steve Miller, for the humans) being involved there is a total lack of ’shock’ content. Except of course, if you are broadly offended by rabits holding an ‘I <3 anal' sign. Shot at Virtual Holland by Chantal Harvey. Overall judgement: cute, with a lovely sick twist!
Update: Apparently the previous video was removed from youtube. I wonder if it was because of the ‘I <3 anal' sign? Anyway, here you go:
What really does crank me up is the song that’s playing in the background. It’s a melodic version of a song I only know in Dutch ‘Sex met die Blonde’ (Sex with the Blond haired girl, low quality youtube link). What’s the English original, assuming there is one?

Ha, ha, ha… I’m one of the rabbits… the one with the sign you talk about.
Well, this was a “happening” Arahan & Nebulosus organized some weeks ago. Later they wanted to make a machinima with it. I should say is not the same seeing it in the video than being part of the first happening. All together produces quite a bitter feeling, some details, are lost in the machinima, specially the dialogs. After the “Orientation” class the bunnies are directed to a door, there is a dollar note in the center, when one runs to it falls in a factory and ends as Soylent.
That was possibly one of the most interesting “happenings” i ever saw in Second Life. In my opinion the video doesn’t show all the bitterness in the installation, but i presume is something to live, instead of to see.
Wonders if one of her favourite quotes ‘Soylent grün ist Menschenfleisch!!!’ (really, you should see the movie in Deutsch, best version! ;)) should now be changed in ‘Soylent grün ist Kaninchenfleisch!’ :D
And yeah, maybe one should have been there. On the other hand, the humour is strong in the machinima, something that probably will lead to more people liking it.

Wow I only just saw this post!
You probably know this by now Vint but I should point out for anyone reading this that the machinima was made by Chantal Harvey, it was the actual performance ‘ORIENTATION’ that was by myself and Nebulosus (Arthole). Chantal and Sandwoman Petion filmed a repeat performance that was shown later at an event in RL Amsterdam.
The sign that the naughty Raul was holding in the original video should not have been there and it confused the message of the piece, so I asked Chantal to remove it which she graciously agreed to.
