Official Wiki-update: Photography tips’n'tricks

April 29, 2007 4:56 am

Linden God Torley has updated the official SL wiki so that it now also includes Snapshotting tips’n'tricks. As I’m not that skilled as it comes to WikiSpeek, can someone change the follow: under useful utilities add the GIMP.

I’ve actually learned something from it too! This might sound stupid, but I didn’t know you could get rid of those annoying and butt-ugly foot shadows by just going ‘Client menu > Rendering > Features > Foot Shadows’. Neat!

And godly Torley, shall you answer my many humble prayers and reveal to us what the ‘Bump Mapped & Cloth’ and ‘ Debug Beacon Line Width’ in the Graphics tab actually _do_? Kind Gods give their worshippers knowlegde and insight! ;)

Ty. Nice to see your break with ‘the SL’ isn’t a total one. ;)

I just wish Renderglow worked for me =(

I have a very good video card too, I don’t understand why it doesn’t work.

nice tutorials Vint… learned some new things ( the movable sun e.g.)

But there is some thing I am struggling with, and dint find a solution up till now. (maybe it is allready described somewhere, and I did overlook just by looking to hard… that happens to me regulary.. :-{ )

my question : how can one do self - action - portraits ?

I mean : I can look for a nice location, park my av there , (with or without poseball), use the ‘alt’ and ‘arrows’ to find a suitable camera angel… that all works well for “static” pictures..
But if I then want do do some action with my av, be it moving, shooting a gun, etc.. the camera view returns to back/above me.
Is there a way to “lock” the camera in the position you put it, and then have it following you from that point of view you defined?
Maybe its just a simple option somewhere in the view settings I have to select, but up till now I overlooked it? Well, I am just a 8 months old noob afterall :-), learning everyday..
