*googles Terry Gilliam*

Aha. Now I know (and blush severly).

I think I still prefer his version of animating paintings. =d

The (outdoor) photograph to a 3D image is supposed to be available to all (?) soon, as Fotowoosh is in alpha. Yet again, WindLight should have been available to all two months ago. ;)

They have some pretty neat examples of the results of using the FotoWoosh software to download which you can watch if you have a VRML plugin. But being examples, maybe the results on 'user created pictures' will be less good. Eitherway, can't wait to try it out once it is in beta. =d

The coolest part is that they need only one (!!!) picture of the target face to do all this cool stuff.

Check out also the original researcher's site: http://www.mpi-inf.mpg.de/~blanz/

For some other impressive stuff - check http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuoljANz4EA

This is a stuff developed by the folks at CMU which allows to view the regular photo in a different "3d view".

http://amp.ece.cmu.edu/projects/ - tons of various cool stuff, and they even have the downloads, so I suppose one can even try out these things by themselves.
