Buitenland means 'abroad'. But err.. 'buiten' means 'outside', or if yelled (and as in this graffiti) it's alike to the German 'Heraus!' I believe the French expression is "va t'en!" (not sure about the writing) and the Italian "Via via". (It's important to know how to say 'get out/fuck off!' in a few languages in Europe. :D)

No kidding.

I have to admit that I wouldn't have understood were it not for a joke I heard long, long ago with the punchline "Omdat wij zo'n grote buitenland hebben." Humor really drives home a lesson.

Tyvm, Miss Melissa. "Leuven Vlaams" is the graffiti written on a neighbouring village's church. It's pretty outdated, because it stems from the time our countries 'main catholic university' - although on Flemish lands - was still ran in French. I remember seeing it the first time and asking my mother "But err... mommy, Leuven is a flemish city, right?!" I don't know if they cleaned this church by now, but it's always the first thing that comes to mind when thinking "graffiti". :D

As for the second line... well.. that's.. wishful thinking. :D
