Sammy Bourne - the ‘Bourne’ part of BridgesandForrester(andBourne?) together with Stargate Enterainment - throws a Real Life Second Life party slash meeting on Saturday October 13th. That’s in less than two weeks!? And no, I did not get an invite, and yes, I needed to find out via SecondLifeCrew.be. Aargh! :d

Party Package

I can not find much info about it, but here is what I know:

  1. Saturday, October 13th 2007 from 8pm - 1am (CET that is? ;))
  2. Dance club ‘The Sunset‘, Hamme (Oost-Vlaanderen)
  3. Entrance fee: 5k L$ (which does include coupons for 6 drinks).
  4. If they do not get 100 people enlisting for the party, it will be cancelled and the L$ will be refunded.
  5. They promise live DJ’s (Duh! It’s first life, after all), gigs, Second Life gadgets and much more.

Reasons to go

Now, why would I consider attending this Belgian Second Life meeting?

  1. Shaking Pieter Bosch’s paw hand.
  2. Curiosity
  3. Curiosity
  4. Curiosity

Reasons to not go

And what keeps me away?

  1. A bunch of Belgian Second Life residents - including me - have already agreed upon meeting at a concert in November. I am really looking forward to that, as - despite having RL data on most - I’m really really curious about the real life interaction.
  2. Long distance driving at night.
  3. The ‘danscafé’ description of the party place reminds me of a local one where - despite good company - I need to be far from sober to last more than 1 hour before saying ‘I go home’. Which does not match with ‘long distance driving at night’.
  4. Nobody from my ‘narrowed down SL friend list’ - take Vint’s Second Life friend list and do ‘/20′ - is going. As far as I know. Of course, if they are going and did not tell me, they are off the narrowed down SL friend list. :d

It all depends on who is going.

Basically, what I want to say, depending on who is going in combination with ‘reasons to go’ 1 to 4 I might be able to get over ‘reasons to not go’ 1 to 3. So, let’s hear it, who’s going? If you are a Belgian avatar - and I’m aware of that and you think I like you - and are not planning to attend, please tell me too, then I’ll at least know for sure that you are _not_ going.

More information, please!

Questions surrounding the Belgian Real Life Second Life meeting on October 13th still to be answered:

  1. What is the deadline for registering / paying the 5k L$ and when will we be informed if the party will actually take place?
  2. Will there be a chance to brush up on my French? Or is it a Flemish Second Life meeting, not a Belgian? And where do I find a flyer in Dutch, French and English?
  3. If I would attend, you do not expect me to dress in animal print, do you?! ;)
  4. … and again: Who’s going?

Hehehe… Interesting ‘^_^ We Israelies will never have one, because 10-20 isn’t an invite list! :-P.

Though 5 of the lucky 20 on the entire SL system were on the news :-D Locally and globally! WOOT!.

Than you will be the lucky one, Pieter, when she will go, to shake hands with the one and only.
I already answered to Vint’s request, I will not be able to attend this party.;(, due to the distance (same as Vint’s excuse) and that I already have something going on in RL on that date.
But I wish you all will have fun, as we would in SL.;)))

Sorry.. for me, SL still is what exists when I switch on my PC.
And although it is true that the time I am spending there is RL time as well, that is as far as it goes.. I feel no need whatsoever to let 1st and 2nd life mix up completely and create a V1.5 or something..

btw : point 2: driving all night? they dont even have tp pads??
point 3: I took a quick look at the website of the place.. on the fotos I didnt see any poles.. so, how is one supposed to dance then?? :-p
point 4: what exactly do you mean Vint? only 5% of your friends are belgians, or.. only 5% is worht meeting ??? ** evil grin **

This is yet another example of you American-hating Eurokiddies displaying your acts of blatant tribalism. Go to hell.

Smiley, who says you can’t throw a great party with 10-20 people? ;)

Pieter & Looker: As I said, not sure yet if I’m going. But I’m really really tempted. (If you ignore ‘why to not-go’ point 1 to 4. ;))

to let 1st and 2nd life mix up completely and create a V1.5 or something..

Héhé. Well, to reveal RL identity or not is - up to now - still a free choice for SL residents. Luckily. I think if everybody were to give out the RL identities, the place would soon become less interesting.

As for the dance poles, I think - for safety reasons - it’s better there are none. There was one in that local ‘danscafé’ I do not feel very strongly about. Really, believe me, certain persons should NOT be allowed to try those things.

As for your point 4: less then 5% is Belgian. :p

Tobie and John: uh?! But John, if it makes you feel better: booze at that party will contain a 21% VAT. ;)

@Vint: Haha, true, my birthdays prove your point… ;-) By the way, why is everyone posting their comments on the VAT post here??? Or it’s a server error, ’cause I get ‘em in the messages about replies in “Second Life Belguim: RL meeting, October 13th”.

Oh and, October, Hush :-P.

Nobody made an entry for me on Wikipedia? Must be Feted Inner Core conspiracy, no doubt led by the likes of Plastic Duck, W-Hat, and you filthy Eurokinders! It has all the earmarkings of it.

Don’t put words in my mouth. Anything you say will be used against you and automatically proves me right.

Also, I want it to be known that I have coined the phrase “Filthy Eurokinders.” Please put me in Wikipedia now.

“…a tale

damn.. do you people never stop? seems even good old Bill Shakespeare had to deal with your kind.. (Macbeth, 5;5)

but I guess its because he was an eurotekkie too??

If by “my kind” you mean someone else. I’m channeling the spirit of *cough* someone/thing. I’m glad I can do a reasonable imitation of that sort of bile, albeit in a much more compact, readable version. And it’s all for the sake of comedy, so I hope you at least got a laugh out of it. I’ll stop now and be my normally cutesy self ;-)
