Second Life Driver’s License: I need a fake!
October 20, 2007 5:13 am
I’ve gotten a neat Solistice GTX from Amanda Shinji - you do know her, right? DJ, Moterati Girl, … ? Anyway, this leads to me having to admit that I’ve never driven a car in Second Life before, only some - neat - steampunk stuff.
Now owning two neat yellow sports cars, I couldn’t resist the temptation, and decided to take the Solistice GTX for a test drive.
Now I realise my skybox is probably not the best example of a good test circuit, but I was quited amazed when my car was stuck… on my cushions. A power horse that can’t drive over a few cushions? Only in SL! =d Of course, also only in SL: driving a car around in your living room in the first place. =d Turning was a bit difficult too, needing to back up often and I kept bumping into my photosphere and N30. But I think we need to blame the test circuit for that and not the car. =d
Really confusing was when - I thought - I parked the car and got out: the car teleported launched itself into the air, parked 10 meters higher then I told it to do and I was nothing but a confused lady with a car. Nifty system to save parking space? Is the altitude of my skybox (+700m) to blame? Or am I just a bad driver?
And if the latter is the case, where do I get my Second Life’s driver license? (Or a random Second Life’s driver license so I can make myself a fake in Photoshop. ;))
Ow, and although the human is a huge AlfaRomeo fan and drives a Mazda, I prefer Pontiac because of the kick ass way they got into Second Life and Bentley because they won the car ad-wars. <- Look at the 4 ads in the order they are in! ;)

Apparently, this Pegaso Edition has been increased to 1200 bhp, oh and check out the license plate number… One.
Yeah well, I wouldn’t let me park that one either. :D
Test drive in your skybox? Bumping into your N30 and photosphere……and you blame the ‘test circuit’? And you want a drivers license?
VINT!…Step away from the car and hand me the keys…..
Next time, Vint, try driving a Dominus Shadow. If you get it stuck, you can put it into hovercar mode and fly your way out of a jam. Just be careful shifting it into 5th or 6th gear…
*sigh*
OK - sell the little car, PLEASE!
it really seems dangerous.
you see… being a bus driver in second life is already hard: lag, lack of streets, strange animals in the way.
more drivers is the last thing we need!
feel free to IM me anytime you like to experience the excitement and swoosh of a 1962 vintage bus, filled with a crowd of fearless avatars (in the moment, we manage 5 together, WITH voice chat)
- btw: i am looking for support at the lawsuit i am facing (nov.3rd/4th) because of a smaller accident with a little roadkill (a german professor…), machinima will be on the blog next week!
Ouchies, lemme give you the car I got from a good friend of mine, tweaks the physics engine like no other! :-D Like playing a next-gen racing game, smooooooth….
Oh and, Second Life offers drivers, not driver licenses ;-).
P.S.: Hmm, ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) is 4 years, should I get FedEx to deliver it? ;-).
I made a mess in Topgol with that car.
Kimo, I will be doing no such thing! MY car! MY precious! (I would switch it in against an SL version of the RL car. Hint: start with a sphere for building. *grmbls*)
Erbo, there are gears on those things? (<- do I sound USA-like now?)
Smiley, lmao. Well what were you mailing me? A car or a license?
Dandellion: Woot! I’ll make you a fake drivers license too then? =d
I love the little Solstice GXP, it’s a fun car to drive and like the Dominus Shadow, was scripted by Francis Chung, so it handles pretty close to the Shadow too…
As for the ‘auto park’, I’m afraid thats a trait of SL Vint and it happened to me the other day, leaving my own Shadow about 20m in the air, upside down and me rather soggy… :D
Vint, come to Motorati Island and have a spin around there, we’ve got some good driving roads and a nead road course now that the Solstice loves :D As for Pontiac (Who own Motorati Island), I love their approach to SL but then I would say that, they sponsor my club and have paid me real money to customise the Solstice GXP and I’ve already been commissioned to modify their new model when it’s launched…
Veyron: That looks nice, but it’s not as cool as the pink camo BAPE Veyron I’ve seen pix of and I know that Bugatti have some uber mental Veyron in production as they sort of hinted at things on the Fifth Gear program I told you about, unless it was these that they had under wraps? We shall see…
Maybe its just the car Vint..
a couple of days/weeks ago, when visiting an almost empty Motorati, I met a guy who invited me for a ride in a little yellow thingy like that.
Ok, the guy was more or less a noob, and I never did take the wheel, but the car went everywhere, exept where he wanted it to go.. sometimes even disappearing half in the road.. lol
mmm… seems your owner has good taste Vint, but.. “..Hint: start with a sphere for building..” , dont tell me she drives one of those little eggs.. :-p
I never felt the need to own a car in SL… but, and this is a call to you SL car designers if you are reading this.., if someone builds as nice replica of the Alfa Spider, you are sure to have at least 1 customer.. (in red or royal blue, please, .. with light brown leather interior..)
Veronique, that was probably down to his inability to drive, the lag that we get on Motorati Island and SL… Trust me, the Solstice is a nice little car to drive in SL, once you get the hang of the driving basics…
/me waves to another Mazda driver ;)
BTW, if you ever see a certain flamingo on the road while driving … aim well and speed up! ;-)
Veronique, as all avatars and humans realise, taste and budget don’t always aline. But hun, light brown leather interior?!!
At least Timmy understands me! =) And I do break for kids, flamingo’s and large boxes & bags if I’m not sure if they are a kid or not.
Brown,… yes.. what?
I guess its this flamingo Timoty is talking about..

So, dont break.. but hit that accelerator pedal !!!! :-p
Veronique, I was actually refering to this one:
http://timothylilliehook.blogspot.com/2007/06/flamingo-sightings.html
But looking at your link, I’m still in a state of shock and can only second your statement: Vint, push that pedal all the way down!
LMAO, Veronique. I never thought one could actually fuck up combining two shades of pink. Apparently, it _is_ possible. :D
Hey, I saw the post and maybe somebody now how can I get a fake driver license?? I am very interested. Please write me your email here, I need as soon as possible.
