The Cannery: Guided tour for SLprofiles

Guided tour at the Cannery: SLprofiles folksI was so *insert swearword* nervous last evening, when Kimo Paklena IM’d me the avatar’s names from the SLprofiles photography group so I could give them permissions to enter the sim. Will they like it? Did we do a good enough job presenting this photographs in all their glory? Didn’t we - in an attempt to show Second Life and it’s photographers diversity - mix to much different styles and themes? Did we make it not enough PG - it’s mature, all right - as erotism is a large part of Second Life’s photography? It’s not to big, is it? To much? And am I going to do this using voice or chat? Am I going to rant to much? When I stop at each photograph and tell why I love it that much?

Damned, I felt so relieved when I had an attentive crowd, when a lot of avatars still joined during the tour and when they all said they loved it. And even Shoshana and one of the featured artists found the time to drop by! Some quotes: ‘Wow! This place is huge!‘ and ‘I’ve learned that many new names, photographers I did not hear about yet!

Guided tour at the Cannery: Spinneke JewellYes, the Cannery is huge. Which allows us to display all the different kind of photographs without ‘interference’. If you put 100 photographs on a small plot, it’s bound to be overkill and not that many avatars can visit at the same time. As for the Cannery Gallery, feel free to come in group. Or SL-masses. :p Take your time to explore - not only the photographs but also the Cannery build itself. Take your time to sit down and talk about the pictures and the Cannery.

The ‘I’ve learned that many new names, photographers I did not hear about yet!‘ quote was a major ‘wow!’ for me, as that is exactly what we wanted to do: show the large amount of talented Second Life photographers to a broad public. If you walk out - like Spinneke Jewell did - with a feeling of ‘I’m a fan! I want to see more work from that SL photography artist!‘, I’m one happy neko. ;)
