I had been reading a news website at the time which mentioned the opening of the Playboy Island in SL yesterday - otherwise I would have missed it! I think it’s a two day event, still going on today?
Anyway, I headed over there, in case it turned out to be some big news event and I wanted to say that I was there. I showed 80 people in the sim at the time, all trying to cram into one small space. Lag and rezzing time was so laughable, which hardly ever provides for a good first impression. The teleporters were very cool, when they worked. Of course, I finally got to the top and it dropped me right back down below, hehe. Luckily, no Bunnies were killed upon my uncontrolled landing.
Will be curious to take a look at it in a month or so - not sure what the big draw will be, exactly. At least that’s one corporation entering SL we can feel confident that Linden isn’t trying to change all of their policies to appease. :-)
I think what everyone should pay close attention to is that Playboy didn’t come out of the gates and “blow their wad” (no pun intended) and over time is going to allow people access to the lifestyle that has never been done before. We all know that there is the proverbial velvet rope around Playboy that only an elite few have gotten behind, but this is their chance to engage their fans and show them a side of Playboy that really has nothing to do with T&A.

I wonder how popular this can be when in SL a woman has to go out of her way *not* to look like a Playboy Bunny.
