The sell order/buy order overview can be found under 'Linden Dollar Exchange' and then 'Transaction History' and does have a 'cancel' button. So, to answer my own question: 'Yes, you can cancel Linden Dollar sell orders on the linden dollar exchange and no when the sell order does not match your money does not just disappear.'
