Beware, if you do get in, chances at crashing upon closing an IM window are very high!

Voice is moving from the Beta Grid to the Live Grid! The Voice First Look Viewer is now available for download to use against the Live Grid. A “First Look” viewer is a publicly available test version of the SL Viewer, designed to enable testing of new client-side features by Residents.

This is scary. I thought we still had time. *sobs*

As I can agree with most of them, the best quotes out of 100 comments 82 comments (they close early these days?) on the LL blog where they declare to have ’some challenges’. I think they have serious issues. But who am I.

  1. Login issues. None that I know of. Can’t login to tell for sure though. (Dina Vanalten)
  2. Since the leak (blanket statement) isn’t fixed, (possibly a new one) if you don’t have alot of memory expect to crash often. I would have to say this Memory Leak is worse then the last, eating up Virtual Memory at an extreme rate. Can’t do anything short of logging out to reduce the VM being sponged up by this client. (Johnny Sleestak)
  3. Atlwolf, go to about land and see if you have a lot of sat/on objects, that’s where you’ll find your ghost prims. Well you won’t exactly find them as they’re ghostly! (Tony)
  4. SL is absolutely THE most frustrating addiction I have ever had. Time to kick another habit…. (Blackwell Huet)
  5. This stinks for builders and photographers; shortcut keys for the camera are not working as before on the MAC client. Option; works Option Ctl if you add the fn key in addition to the normal use of arrows. Option-Ctrl-shift to move the camera up, dn, left, right.. No functional. Mouse works. Guess QA doesn’t use the keyboard? (Enysy Mitika)
  6. i had no problem logging in but i’m hairless and ao’less and currently standing in front of my boyfriend with a box on my head to cover my baldness. please give me my hair back soon lol (Nimil)
  7. Hump. Cant even download at present to even get borked. In Texas we have a saying ” Remember the Alamo”
In second life i think ill just say ” Remember The Sims Online”. Later all. (Clay Duport)
  8. well nokithecat what do you expect? they very underhandedly snuck voice in on the back end and blew the sim server code in the rush to force an unwanted option on the customers. expect many many defects added and no defects fixed. they were busy with sneaking in voice and NOT fixing anything. (Ann Otoole)
  9. … i’m sorry to be rude but SL gets worse and worse for me each update. i can’t see colors unless i turn off fog. (Lancars Vezina)
  10. Everything in SL is a little different than in RL. I say we declare every “update Wednesday” as an official SL holiday. Let’s call it Update Wednesday! (Notice the proper noun caps.) Take the day off! Allow the fabric of SL to settle after the gods have poked and prodded it with their fat, clumsy fingers. Take a vacation in RL. Go on, you just might like it. (Nava Muni)

It’s the end of my multi-tasking during SL as I struggle to hear and understand what the frak people are telling me over my computer fans and hearing loss.

My sim is up and running, with an event and no troubles building or editing terrain.

Nothing has changed on the back end to support voice - at least, it changed months ago, so there’s no real difference today.

Any rezzing trouble could be you’re loading a new cache. Or more troubles with the asset server. Things are slow to load, but if you take things off that didn’t load, then put them back on, you’ll be fine.

…And you you can’t hear voice, why worry about it?

Euhm, Crissa. If I close an IM window - which I do often out of habit - : I crash. If I do not close an IM window, I crash too. Prim problems were still there for a lot of people, although they new about those already yesterday. (I’ve fought an evil prim in my skybox myself, yesterday.)

Update: Rezzed my holodeck and crashed. Not normal, I think?

Update: Crashed again, logged in, 0.0002 seconds on the grid, crash again, log in, 0.00025 seconds on the grid, crash. Normal? Ow, make that trice.

Now you know why the Gin Rummy is closed on Wednesdays. :-)

I am in for the SL holidays. I did not crash, but every release I had other problems. And my friendlist was down again. I had only one friend on the grid: Vint Falken.;)
And apparently she did not had the time between all the crashes to answer my IM, np.;)
Everything was sloooooow. So what will happen with the voice on the grid, brrrr.

I’m sorry Looker, that must have been lost in the crashes. (Read: displayed, me did not notice, me crash, me came back and then - of course - it was gone.)

The voice you can test on 15 LL sims in the middle of the grid. Feel free to try it out, I’m not going too, although I joined Loki Clifton’s test group so I get some information about it anyway.

I hate to say it, but I kind of have to agree with #10…sometimes it’s just best to avoid SL altogether after the updates.

However, I was on the grid last night and only had a few minor issues aside from lag, and no crashes!

I already call those Downtime Wednesdays or simply Downtime Day. But it sure is SL’s weekend holidays.
