Why people like Troyj Klaar piss me off

May 4, 2007 4:41 am

Ok.. there are dozens of people just like Troyj Klaar, uploading and selling things that aren’t theirs. I know. Why did I pick him out, well he was as unfortunate as to choose the same moment as me for listing stuffon SLBoutique. Bummer. :d

Why would I love to shoot them, you will ask?

  1. Selling freebie packages at L$500?!
  2. Packages priced L$1, L$2 and L$10 are not freebies, dear Troyj! Besides, how dare you charge for something that was and should be free in first place!
  3. Louis Royo? Linser? For christ’s sake, create something of your own! It costs you L$0 to find it through image search at google, L$10 to upload the texture and you’re charging people L$25 for it?!!
  4. Mr. Klaar, it’s ecstasy, not ectstacy!
  5. These things keep appearing in the search results (spamming, I call it) when I’m looking for something decent and of use, sold or given away by the person who has actually made the object/texture/script/pose/whatever!
  6. Some, like Nathan Mahoney, even have the guts to put ‘copy’ on the textures to prevent people from stealing what they stole in the first place.
  7. Tell me, Lori Reddevil, what sold at ‘Magical Creations‘ did you actually magicaly create yourself?

Slash me thinks SLBoutique urgently needs a ‘flag for RL and/or SL copyright infringement and for being a very very annoying and unwanted search result‘ button. Or at least something that says ‘Do not show me objects from this seller ever again!‘.

This is why my freebies are non-transfer. I just don’t want them to fall in the hands of such evil persons. :(

A copyright infringement flag would be a great idea, actually.

I hate it when people do shady stuff like that.

I personally have “recreated” several pieces of vintage Vivienne Westwood clothing for my avatar…however, they are not for sale. Nor would I feel comfortable selling them either. I have given a couple of copies to people, but they are mod+copy, no transfer, and I didn’t charge for them.

looks like search.sheeplabs.com may help if you’re going to find who’s *selling* your freebies.

(btw it is powered by those “evil” libsecondlife bots :)

i hate that so much too. its just plainly wrong to 1) steal the item and 2) to sell it for an outrages price.

i also hate when people charge for freebies when they should be called cheapies or something like that. a lot of these scammers purposly use the word freebie trying to trap newbies

Tobie: At least you did work on those! Placing it on a template, making sure it lines out, … that still differs from ‘just uploading a texture’.

Opensource Obscure: Let the Sheep first concentrate themselves on fixing SLBoutique, please. Strangely enough they don’t list anything that’s for sale in Zhivago yet, so I assume they are as fast as yahoo search as it comes to indexing stuff. :d But as I stated earlier, all my freebies are ‘non transfer’, so it should be safe. (On the other hand, the drawback is that it reaches less people.)

Maybe they could add something to the Trusthud concerning this. That you can flag someone that is selling things that were actually free and/or created by you.

Yeah actually I put hours of work into some of the pieces of clothing I made. Even the photosourced stuff (like the two pairs of Viv Westwood capris I made) still takes a lot of time and effort to get it to work as clothing for an avatar. But still, even with all the work I put it, I still couldn’t sell them with a clear conscience.

But, I guess some people are not quite as honest as I am =P
